One of the most appealing parts of working with styrax is the lightly spicy/sweet balsamic aroma that comes from the high content of cinnimyl alcohol. This is a lovely materal that can add warmth to florals, add richness to gourmands, and soften the edges of spice accords. Restricted due to potential skin sensitization, but even traces offer so much warmth and character.
